v0.2.0 — Sightings get sharper, the editor gets snappier

What's new in v0.2.0.

🖼️ Frame each rat moment

Each sighting image now has its own crop. Drag to reposition, scroll to zoom. Up to five per sighting, tuned independently from the thumbnail strip.

✍️ A real markdown editor

The Description field has Write / Preview tabs sitting above a small toolbar — bold, italics, headings, lists, links, code. Numbered lists count properly. --- draws a real divider.

🎨 Movie pages, more movie-y

Light-mode pages wear their poster-sampled accent more visibly, and the Submit a Sighting button now picks a readable ink to match — no more white-on-pastel.

✨ Smaller things

  • Required stars on Rodent type, When in the movie? and Rats on screen.
  • Bigger rodent icons across cards and chips.
  • Theme toggle is now a ☀️ / 🌙 icon.
  • More breathing room on the submit form.

Open the submit form and go find some rats 🐀

What's new — newsletters, notifications & more

A handful of things have shipped since launch. Here's what's new.

📬 Newsletter

You can now subscribe to WhereRat updates at the bottom of any page. When new posts go out, you'll get a digest in your inbox — no spam, just updates. You can unsubscribe any time from the link in any email.

✉️ Submission notifications

When you submit a sighting, you'll get a confirmation email straight away. Once a moderator reviews it, you'll hear back either way — approved or declined, with a note if it didn't make it through.

🐭 More than just rats

You can now flag sightings as mice, capybaras, or other rodent types — not just rats. The submit form includes a write-in option for anything that doesn't fit a preset category. Unusual sightings get a chip on the catalog so they're easy to spot.

🎬 Dedicated pages for films & shows

Movies now live at /movies/[slug] and TV series at /shows/[slug], with proper episode-level navigation for series. Direct links work, share cleanly, and the metadata is more accurate for each type.

More coming soon. If something's missing or broken, file an issue on GitHub.

Announcement

Welcome to WhereRat 🐀

If you've ever paused a movie to confirm that yes, that was definitely a rat — this site is for you.

WhereRat is a catalog of rat cameos in film and television. Every entry is timestamped so you can jump straight to the moment without watching the whole thing first. Spoiler-sensitive sightings are flagged so the archive never ruins a film for you.

🐀 What's in the catalog

Each sighting includes:

  • A precise timestamp — skip straight to the moment
  • A description of the scene and how prominent the rat is
  • A spoiler flag when the sighting is tied to a plot beat
  • Screenshots where available

✍️ Submit a sighting

Spotted a rat we missed? Hit Submit a sighting on any title page. The more detail the better — a good timestamp, a short scene description, and a spoiler flag if needed. Submissions go through a quick review before going live.

🐛 Bugs & feature requests

WhereRat is a new project — if something's broken, missing, or could be better, file it on GitHub:
